Which calendar?

Umm al-Qura and the tabular calendar

The Umm al-Qura calendar is the official civil calendar of Saudi Arabia, published month by month and used widely across the Gulf. The tabular calendar is a fixed arithmetic rule (the ISO/Unicode standard) that works for any year. HijriConv shows both, side by side, so you can see exactly where they agree and where they differ by a day.

Neither is a moon-sighting calendar. Because the visible crescent can appear a day earlier or later than the calculation, dates for fasting, Eid, and Hajj should always follow the announcement of your local religious authority.
